More fun in run

Came to run in UPR with an injured right ankle... and also tried my toe shoes. I jogged slowly for 2km... felt very differently. I think I will run a it more in it. Quite fun. Strangely, instead of adding more pain, the ankle got better after nagging for more than 2weeks.
Shared a bit of the experience with the other 10 runners there. We left UPR just before 7pm as some wanted to get home to coach their child for CA test in school. Welcome to a new addition to hotrunners... Lawrence.
This is our 199th posting.

UPR run before Chinese New Year

Guess who is this "Tok Kong Runner" in red color t-shirt?

Boz, Edwin, HT and HC turned up at the UPR carpark. HT did not bring his running gear. So he ran with his long pants and working shoes !! He is fully charged up and ready to run after coming back from US.

After the run was surprised to see Margaret and Catherine at the end point (carpark). We sat at the bench area sipping 100-plus and have a good chat together.

After the run and rest, some of us changed to new clothing. Nice.

Well....... our "Tok Kong runner" is our marathoner Margaret.

Last 2 runs at Upper Pierce Reservoir

turn out at UPR has been great for last 2 runs, had 14 last week and 13 today

last week......
HC finally got his 5 fingers shoes and was glad that MJ was on hand to show him the finer points
"dun raise your ankle too high, glide along, small stride but high cadence"
it was a short intro run on his 5 fingers but HC felt the strain in his muscles
"its toning up the muscles" MJ was heard saying

jason, mark & dennis have been joining us for quite a while now
and we were glad with the progress they made...
2 times up the slope and back is now "do-able" for them
today....

thanks to the supply chain folks for volunteering to take care of the 100+
preparation for this month
margaret, pak loon, lau & MJ took off from office instead of starting at UPR
for a moment, we thot margaret was "kidnapped" by the long tailed macaques (aka monkeys)
because she was nowhere to be seen when pak loon & lau have been back for quite a while
we then realised she went for an extra 1k to the pump house area

HC & HT were both travelling this week so we got away without taking a group shot..
but i still took some pictures

next week's run will be ON!!

and hope to see more before the CNY holidays

17 Hot-Runners turned up to run together today !!

Very glad to see that a total of 17 Hot-Runners turned up for the run together today.

HC has not been running for almost a month. Just recovered from flu which lasted almost 2 weeks. So he took a shorter 5.4km route. Was having difficulty in breathing after about 3km. But he was very glad to re-start to join the group again.

Glad to see Andy joining the group for his 3rd run now.

The most committed runners are our 3 ladies FULL marathon. Right after the recent Dec-2010 Standard Chartered Full Marathon event, Cat said she will not do another full marathon again. You know what? She just signed up this month for the July-2011 Australia Gold Coast full marathon! This sounds fairly normal for those who have completed their first full marathon.

All together 6 people have signed up for the Australia Gold Coast full marathon. They are Edwin, Bok, Cat, HweeChwee and 2 others (forget their names).

Quite a number came with the distinguish Bright Yellow Hot-Runners group t-shirt.

Can't remember everyone's name. We have Chin, Francis, who1?, Edwin, Margaret, HweeChwee, Cat, who2?, HC, who3?, Mark, who4?, Andy, Jimmy, PakLoon & HT (half body only compliment of a kind hearted lady who took the photo for us and keep whispering handsome men. She forgot mentioned Pretty Women or maybe not of interest to her!).

Marathon after thot: we like powergel, 100+...but we also like bbq!!

the marathon was finally over...
the rookies: cat, edwin, francis, bobby & HT had a blast of times
yes...legs were aching, muscles sored, feet blistered, arms & thighs abrasion-ed,
some darkened toe nails...and a fabulous tan even..
but what the heck...YOU DID IT!!

john bingham, running writer & speaker wrote:
"The miracle isn't that I finished. The miracle is that I had the courage to start."

we revel, even the most seasoned of runners, the sheer excitement of starting our runs
"am i ready for a long run?"; "i think i am not feeling well today"; "looks like its going to rain"
we hear these everytime, but deep inside, we know that we are ready to start
dying to go, just that we hate the waiting part.
so kudos to you for taking the plunge...its a big leap..but one i am very sure that will get you talking over kopi, teh, wine, beer and even BBQs for years to come

BBQ evening was great as everyone was more than happy to trade carbo-loading for ca-loading (calories for that)
thanks to edwin for graciously offering his place for the bbq & the 2 bots of wine
the bbq area was great just by the pool and the place was awesome
chicken wings, suasages, bacon, satay, otah, fishballs, stingrays, sotongs, fried beehoon, curry
eric's bought some heineken, which was godsend for killing the BBQ heat
we had wanted to stay till 10pm...we left after midnight

we even had a birthday cake, HC & Charlene gave a surprise to their daughter Vanessa who was having her birthday!!

check out more pictures here

was funny that cat's sister, who came down to help us finish our loads of chicken wings & satays,
exclaimed to her:
"they do not look like marathoners to me leh"
and i was like asking her back "we look too good to be running marathons???"

i always told pple who visited my cubicle and saw the numerous medals that I so "hao-lian-ly" displayed
that anyone can run a marathon...as long as you are willing to start
but it takes an even stronger person to really decide to wake up at 3am and show up at the start line at 5am
so its really not about the time...
time can wait...
as long as you are willing to start,
time will be there at the finish line
waiting to celebrate the miracle with you

Back to peace

Today, we welcomed Andy Toh who came to join us for the first time in his lemon yellow luminous hotrunners tee. He is searching for a way to get back into running... his knees were giving pain. Let's hope that he will find a way to overcome it for good probably with a new running technique.

MJ, Bobby ran back to the office from UPR. Interesting to note that they still have the run intensity right after their Full marathon 2 weeks ago.

Francis gave Andy company and ran towards the pump house.

Bokz and I did our thing to get ourselves into good mood.

Cooling weather, sponsored 100-plus and great company ended the evening nicely.

1st run together after the 5-Dec Stan. Chart. marathon event

After a week break, the hot-runners started the weekly Tuesday run again today. About 10 people turned up. Weather was good and cooling. Slight drizzle when we start the run but the light rain went away in a short while. Everyone had a great run today. Cheers.....
