1st UPR Run after the recent 4-Dec marathon event

A total of 8 hot-runners turned up today for the fun run together. This is the first recovery run for some of us after the marathon event.
Ms. A, Aik Lan, HT, Jason, Mark, Dennis, HC and Bok Hui turned up.

Thanks to HT for bring the water cooler with ice and HC for supplying 2 bottles of 100-Plus.

A lot of information sharing about the recent marathon events. Bok sort of "hit the wall" after about 33km. HC both legs cramped at 30km mark and not able to move at all right in the middle of the run for about 1 full minute. Bok said need "potassium" to avoid cramp and banana is one of the better source for that.

Tranquil once more at UPR

After the hectic schedule fo events and my recent travel, going to UPR for a simple run was something to look forward to. MJ was there to greet the runners and catch up on activities and experiences. Eight runners made it to the reserviour. Among us, there was a new comer who ran with Riess and Francis to cover about 5 km.
I was satisfied with the 3.6km laced with challenging slopes. CS Chan and Steby were in their element and was very comfortable running close to an hour. Drinks was sponsored by our generous CS Chan. Thanks to Bok Hui for lugging the ice and cups diligently every Tuesday with Gan.
In the midst of our admiration of the scenic, tranquil setting sun, we came to the realisation that we did not talk about work, neither did we talk about running. We talked about the captive beauty of nature. It was an astounding point that we are very at ease with each other and had an enjoyable evening thru running together. ... Run for Life

UPR Run on 2-June-09

Last weekend was the Sundown marathon event. The prior week was the PAssion Run. Some of the participants will likely be resting for a few days to a week.

Today 7 people turned up for the weekly UPR run. HT met up with the group at the carpark.
The mighty 7 were Wil, Ben, TL Yen, George, Francis, HC Gan and PH Tan. The weather was nice and the team have a great run today.

HC was pacing behind Ben and Wil. Three of them did the 7km run and at moderate speed. HC commented that at the first half of the run, his heart rate was consistently at 150bpm or below, a very comfortable zone At the heart rate and speed he believe can complete a 42km full marathon. The average speed was between 9kmph to 10kmph.

Assuming at 9kmph the entire 42km will take 4:40 hrs which will not too bad for a 1st timer for full marathon. Looking forward to the Dec Standard Chartered Marathon event.

Tuesday UPR Run

11 people turned up for the run today. No one from materials team turned up today... all very busy this week due to additional workload ?

HC, CS and CM all brought along several bottles of 100-Plus. We used up CM's first. HC will bring his this Thursday for the Track-24 run. CS can bring his again next week Tue at UPR. Thanks CM for this week sponsored drinks.

We welcome GuanHong for joining the AMK Hot-Runners group first time together for the run. HC found out through Facebook that GuanHong is a keen runner and invited him to join the group for the weekly FUN runs.

GuanHong's 1st comment : "the slopes are really jia-lat (tough)". We told him it was the same when we first started running there at UPR... all of us felt "punctured" at the slopes too but now all felt ok and enjoy the slopes.

HC & Janto provided transport from office to-and-from the UPR carpark. Thanks.

HC Gan, Janto, TL Yen, Raymond, GuanHong (1st time joining us), CM Lai, Steby, SokeHan (good to see her again after a long break).
Edwin Goh, CS Chan and Edmund drove there directly. HT still down with flu and did not join.

8 people (!) grouped together and ordered the Garmin Heart-rate, speed and distance monitoring watch. It should arrive in 1 to 2 weeks time. It's a steal at about US$82.00 (recession fire-sales price). Pete Laute and HC Gan bought theirs at US$138 ! If buy locally it is around S$400.

Apr 14 UPR for Mong Sze

Somehow, the photo from my new Mot phone appeared with special dreamy effect specially for Mong Sze. Mong means dreamy. The camera must have sensed the day was dedicated to her. She provided the 100 plus and helped with the drinks as well. We wish her the more fun running after her departure from Motorola. Once a hot-runner, always a hot-runner.
Margerate was there as sent off party and to tough it out. She is building up towards her Sundown 42km. Between that, she has signed up for Passion Run 15km.

Wil simply likes to run and have been consistently good.

Pleasent George always there to give good company to all.

We welcome CM Lai, our new hotrunner.

Yip has also signed up for 21km Bridge Run.

Yanto back from secret training in Indonesia

Gan also back from secret Malaysia training.

First photo of Edmund solo in singlet. His motto is also to simply enjoy the run. He did 7km in UPR in 46mins. Wonder how fast he can go if he go beyond enjoyment into the torture zone.

Riess is back in the running with hotrunners.

Farewell Run for HC Gan @ Upper Pierce Reservoir

Today we arranged a Farewell Run for HC Gan, one of our founding members of this Hot-Runners group. Today is his last day at work.

21 people showed up. A bit short of the 30 that we have hope to see as most of the materials team members were still busy at the office for this week quarter closing.

Thanks to ALL of who joined us today especially the ex-colleagues who came all the way to join the farewell run today... Cecilia, YS Yip, Kim Anderson (our super runner) and BengHwee.

Also thanks for the kind note through SMS, emails, etc for those who were not able to join us today.

HC brought along 4 bottles of 100-Plus and 1 bottle of plain water together with a containter with ice. He will still join the regular weekly run with the group.
We welcome two new members today :- Francis Ong and Pak Lah.

SNAP SHORTS OF TODAY'S RUN

You huh terrible you know. Run so so so fast and did not wait for me...

Why is our super runner crying... torn between 2 lovers ? (we are kidding here of course, do not get too serious over this).
