Track24 - 6km run
Went to run along 6km Track 24 with HT and Edmund.
After the run we took some water sponspored by HT and chatted for a while.
Then met Yun YS who drove into the open carpark area to meet us.
Suggested to him that he should try to join us at least once a week. He has stopped joining us since his new job knock off time is 6pm. So he suggested that for the once in a month run with ex-Moto people, lets try to start slight later... e.g. at 6pm instead to allow those ex-Moto to drive and meet up. Good idea.
I continue to run from the carpark back to home and around the neighbourhood for another 9km. So total I clocked in 15km today as planned.
HC trying to do a single 20km run sometime next week in preparation for the 16-Aug half marathon run at Marina Bay.

UPR 14 Jul
had a big nice turnout today...16 "hotties" to be exact...good to see Reis & Jasmine joining us again...they were busy with conference calls on previous Tues...great news in bad times like this I supposed :) ...
Chia showed "great courage" by turning up today as well...looks like we did not manage to scare him off...we definitely want to see him more often...HC was also back with us after missing a few runs as he was visiting his mom in Malaysia...
weather was good...skies were slightly overcast but never threaten to pour cats and dogs on us...after the customary photo shoots, off we go. MJ was shooting off in double-quick pace..with me following behind...but soon he was out of sight...Francis has improved his run (must commend my brother a bit la ha...) and Randy was running very well too because of the challenge thrown to him....if you want to know more..ask him personally :)
the ladies were doing very well too...running and chatting at the same time...not easy man i tell you but they managed to do it...so proud of them...wahahaha!!!
with the nice view of the pierce reservoir as backdrop, we cool off with treats of iced cold H2O and 100Plus....and catch up with the latest buzz in office as well as running happenings...the "old faithful" sounds off exactly at 1915hrs...signalling we have 15min to go unless we want to camp overnight at the reservoir...

Yellow Ribbon Prison Run
The Yellow Ribbon Project will be organising its 1st ever Yellow Ribbon Prison Run on 6 Sep at Changi. The aim of this run is to allow public a chance to view the new prison complex but more importantly, its about creating awareness to public and giving ex-offenders a second chance to start afresh. What matters most is not about the fall, but how one gets up.
The prison service, who called themselves Captains of Life, hoped to be able to create public awareness that its important to allow ex-offenders to assimilate back into the society, and help to unlock the 2nd prison.
I find that this is a very meaningful run and i encourage hot-runners to support this. You can sign up online at:
www.yellowribbonprisonrun.sg. Early bird registration will ends 17 Jul.

Moments from Thursday's Run:
The rain came in the late afternoon. Instead of track 24, I took the opportunity to try an old familiar route of 10km to the North end of Yishun estate. The run took me pass Lentor road, turning right towards Orchid country club. Ran fast for the pass 5km but felt hungry and tired hence stopped after 6km. Walked a bit before running again at 9km/hr. After the 7km mark, my wife came to pick me up. The sky opened up and I was glad in a way that I was not caught in the rain. I found the analysis from the Garmin data from the run useful. It taught me once more that the fast pace at 10km/hr did wear me out. This 10km route somehow has been daunting to me compared to UPR. I will overcome it in my next run. Kind of interesting to be running solo... have not done that for a quite a while.

Upper Pierce Run 7 Jul
weather was cool after a slight drizzle at noon, but rain was still threatening to hit us any moment...we were slightly late today, starting only at 1815hrs...Got a new addition, Chia and this was his first run in dunno how many years...hahaha...welcome to the family. PH Tan was present too after missing on a couple of runs due to late conference calls. So off we go after the usual photo-taking ceremony and most chose to run within the reservoir for fear of the imminent rain...at least dun have to run too far to get shelter :)
most came back by 1900hrs and we had a nice chill-out session over iced cold H2O.

Running die-hards Thursday
July 2nd, evening was cool after a late afternoon drizzle. Edwin, Bokz and HoT were deck out in running attire and ready to roll. Just before we headed out to Tracvk24, Margerat and Randy came in their running gears. They were going to take 10km route for the day's run. Wow, what a distance.
Bokz and Edwin ran rapidly. By the time I was done, my speed averaged 9.9km/h. This 9.9km/hr is easier than the last Track 24 run with Gan. The difference was the adoption of KY Loke's approach to keep things easy to maintain a regular cruising speed in order to take longer distance.... hey, no a bad advise. More haste, less speed. Meanwhile Gan is running in KL and have done 16km averaging 9km/hr at cruising speed. MJ will be looking forward to do a longer run to prepare for Bay Run. Gan will be a strong possibility to keep MJ company.

UPR 30 Jun
13 runners turn up for 30 Jun run at UPR, our favourite running ground. Weather was very good and everyone was in high spirits. Carol came all the way from Shenton Way to join us :) This was the 1st time she ran in Upper Pierce Reservoir and the verdict: very challenging but scenery was just breath-taking.
We always enjoyed the after run chit chat with the beautiful sunset as the backdrop....of course....a cup of ice cold isotonic drink was always appreciated
