Back to running

What a difference 3 weeks makes! I was away and did not manage to do any exercise. I felt a warm welcome when Edwin met me at 5:30 pm for a run on Thursday 24 Sep. I was glad to be back in the company of a hotrunner. Edwin was in his element and ran quickly as usually... Cheong. He ran so fast that I could not find time to observe his running style. I was interested in his running as Bokz told me about his switch to explore mid-foot running. Before he ran, he happily showed me his investment... a pair of New Balance shoes for mid foot running. (He advised discount of 30% plus another 7% over the $167 retail price.) He seemed happy to have embark on the learning journey to run using this technique. We chatted happily while cooling down with H2O... Run for Fun.

It has been close to a year committing myself to the weekly hotrunners' session. It was a strange realisation that it helped me in my recent 3 weeks of work in Korea. People around me started to fall ill as the strain of the weeks of long hours took its toll. I used to be one of those who would succumb to flu easily but not this time. As Gan put it nicely in the Hotrunners' motto... Run for Health.

Here is another bit of running related stuff in Korea. I met a businessman in his mid forties who shared alot about his return to health through good diet and running during last few months. He was all smiles when shared that he was able to run 10km in 1 hour in his latest attempt. He was curious when I mentioned the "midfoot running thing". I wanted to share so that he have options to protect his knees and also enjoy running with ease. We shared our running experiences during lunch. That was last Friday. He wrote to me that he have tried it out over the weekend. He was keen. ... Run for Life.
